Vista won't let me map its root drive

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm setting up ASV6 on a networked Vista client.I'm at the step where I need to map the client''s root directory at the serverand then run ActiveRadarConnector at the server from the client. To be able to map the client drive at the server PC, the client drive need to be shared. But Vista's security will not allow its root to be shared. So how I do I get around this?I'm just coming back to FS after a year's break, so sorry if this has been covered before.I'm sure it has but many searches on this forum brought up nothing relevant. Thanks in advanceGeoff

Thanks for your reply Jim. I understand that I have to share the two folders on the server. But the step to run the ActiveRadarConnector.exe (which is installed at the client) from the server requires me first to map the client's root drive at the server. To do that, I'm assuming that I have to share the client's root drive first. And that's what Vista won't let me do. Are you saying I don't have to do this step?Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.Cheers,Geoff

Jim, maybe you should just ignore this thread. I'm starting from scratch and currently wrestling with file sharing between Vista and Windows 7. I thought it would be easier than in XP.I'll start a new thread when I understand better what my problem is.Thanks for your help.Geoff
