November 22, 200916 yr After running the 'repair' option (trying fix other probs) FSX failed to run - fatal error. Option one was to uninstall and start again. remove options were listed as FSX service pack2 so continued with that. Then as the shortcut to FSX was still on desktop and all folders were still in the FSX main folder, I tried running FSX again and it loaded with everything as it was. Returning to the add/remove in contro panel I see the entry is just MS fSX (no reference to SP2). So does this mean it only removed SP2 (not SP1 also) and should I now just run the SP2 bit again?Just noticed the curser arrow in FSX is now black!!!!Later: As I tried to install another addon I was informed that it needed SP2 to be installed first. Answers my own question I think!!
November 23, 200916 yr Was "Show Updates" checked in the Control Panel? If so, you should see SP2 in your list if it is installed, as well as stuff like SP1, some patches, hotfixes, etc. Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

Answers my own question I think!!If you don't have FSX Acceleration (which automatically installs SP1/SP2), you'll have to manually install SP1, then SP2. Each install should be showing up in your Add/Remove Programs. To be on the safe side, I would reinstall FSX, then SP1 (even though you may have already installed it), then SP2. If they are installed, you should get a "repair" option which is basically reinstalling the FSX and the SP's. Go ahead and select repair. Your black cursor arrow can be fixed by going into the program that controls your Mouse. Look in the Control Panel for Mouse and change the cursor to the one you would like. The black arrow in your cursor is not the fault of FSX, it's the program for your Mouse.Best regards,Jim
