FS2004 - General stability tests...

Featured Replies

I know (considering the patch discussion) that issues may arise post release blaming stability issues on Microsoft and demanding a patch.I wanted to post this thread as a note of optimism, and perhaps as a preventive measure. If FS2004 were unstable, my system should cause it in spades. Win 98, an old BX MB that hasn't had a BIOS update or chipset driver update available in years, running a fairly new tech video card and off the shelf, rather cheap RAM.I haven't frozen or locked once. Having just purchased the GEF '4200, I wanted to burn it in so I ran FS2004 for almost twenty hours yesterday. To save money, I went with an OEM model, so I wanted as many testing hours on it as I could get. I decided to stick with the 30.82 drivers, and applied the Rivatuner patch to access negative LOD settings. I tweaked the card to a -.5 LOD, using only 2X aniso and AA. And no stabilty issues.FS2004 will be installed on all types of systems. I can't guarantee someone won't run into issues. But my biggest pet peeve in any sim--crashing for no good reason, is not an issue for me when it could have been, given my system's age and lack of support...Regards,

Can't be any worse than FS2000 was.
