Changing Take-Off Roll Specs For Particular Aircraft

Featured Replies

Hello all,I enjoy flying the default FSX Maule M7 and am wondering if there is a way to shorten the default takeoff roll requirements for this aircraft, perhaps through the aircraft.cfg file. I've looked over the SDK reference for the aircraft.cfg (published by Microsoft) but the physics are all beyond me. I'm honestly not sure if a parameter exists for allowing the Maule to takeoff in shorter distances than what the sim is currently allowing for. For instance, several published specs for the Maule M7 list a takeoff roll as short as 250 feet with 1 passenger and about 1/2 fuel. Clearing a 50-foot obstacle can be achieved at around 600' takeoff roll. Numerous videos online demonstrate how this tail-dragger can practically "jump" right into the air with very little takeoff roll.I've tried countless times to duplicate this behavior in the sim with the default FSX Maule, but can never get this bird in the air with less than about 1000 feet takeoff roll. It appears FSX does not simulate the true STOL characteristics of this plane quite as well as the real thing. I was hoping to tweak a parameter within the aircraft.cfg that would allow for more realistic (e.g., shorter) STOL simulation of this plane. If anybody has any experience with this or can provide further assistance and knowledge, I'd surely appreciate it.Many thanks in advance for your help! :( - Rob
