EastJet Virtual, the Chicago (MDW) based carrier is pleased to announce the addition of 5 Boeing 737-700 aircraft to its existing fleet of 5 B737's. The 5 additional aircraft will be based at Chicago Midway Airport. These aircraft are part of a option for lease from its financier of the original aircraft order. These aircraft are the last of the financial agreement and leave open the possibility for EastJet Virtual to explore other fleet possibilities in the future. CEO Shawn Fitts stated in a written released statement "Exercising these options bring our fleet count to 10 aircraft and open our schedule up greatly to serve our customers better." EastJet plans to start taking delivery of the leased aircraft late next week.EastJet Virtual also announced with the addition of the leased aircraft 6 destinations to be served from its Chicago Midway hub with some cities starting as soon as January 18th. The following destinations are:

  • Ft Lauderdale, FL
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • New Orleans, LA
  • Dallas, TX
  • Reno, NV

Mr. Fitts on the announcement of new cities said "EastJet looks forward to serving 6 new and exciting destinations with the addition of our new aircraft. As we strive to serve our community, we recognize the need for warm and refreshing destinations. We expect a very strong presence on our new Florida routes and are glad to see these routes getting airborne just in time for the Spring Break season." This brings EastJet's destination count to 12 cities now served by the reopened EastJet Virtual after quietly closing its doors suddenly last February.
