XP Pro bckup / Win 7?

Featured Replies

Since I will need to do a clean install of Win 7 is any data from my XP Pro backups able to be reinstalled for FSX? I have dozens of add-ons and really am hoping I don't have to re-install one at a time.I'm really not unhappy with XP-Pro and my FSX install. Actually it works quite well. I'd like Win 7 for other applications. Also do you recommend the 64bit install? Are the drivers up to snuff? Would I have better add-on compatibility with a 32bit install? I have a 2.8g Dual Quad Core Xeon machine with 8g of ram and a 512 Nvidia 8800GT. Yes it's a Mac Pro, but it runs XP Pro VERY NICELY.Stay with XP Pro or Win 7?Thank you for your time in advance.Mark. : )

1) You will have to completely reinstall - each like addon for itself. There is no easy way out.2) Yes, I personally recommend 64bits. For anything above 2GB of physical RAM.3) As for the drivers, you gotta look them up for your hardware. Mainboard website + vendor's websites.4) Compatibility: No. Except for some very rare stuff, like some older RXP gauges.5) I have never been happier with the switch. I find Win7 to be very good. Even better than XP.Welcome to AVSIM.
