February 3, 201016 yr I have read several things relating to this over the weeks past and although there does not seem to be a fix, I am putting in my two cents as it is a problem. It happens on every flight and enough so that it is becoming increasingly bothersum. As of yet it has not happened during an approach but only in level flight. I use FS9, and real time wx and have tried everything so far that has been suggested w/ no positive results. I can only leave it up to the experts to maybe pin it down. Still a happy customer....Vincent :(P.S. I have both Active Sky 6.5 and X.
February 4, 201016 yr Hi,Where have you read these things? What are your system specs? What have you tried so far? Please let us know and I may have some suggestions!

I don't seem to be suffering from FPS drops as have others who have had flickers/stuttering. If you require more PLZ advise eg. specs/settings....Vincent
February 4, 201016 yr Hi,You are pushing your system to it's limits with all those add-ons.Suggestions:Limit cloud layers to 3 in AS.Set Cloud Draw Distance in FS to 30 or 40.Use 256 or 512 clouds from REX.Lock your FPS in FS to 25.
February 5, 201016 yr Hi,You are pushing your system to it's limits with all those add-ons.Suggestions:Limit cloud layers to 3 in AS. I will chk this oneSet Cloud Draw Distance in FS to 30 or 40. Set at 30 already or less.Use 256 or 512 clouds from REX. Use 256Lock your FPS in FS to 25. FPS at 22Already do that and my system is only running FS/RCv4/and ASA when running fltsim. I use FS autostart before each session. My task mgr does not show a high demand on memory in fact I very seldom ever get anywhere near the limit except w/ airports such as KSEA and even then there is maybe one small hitch half way down the runwy on T/O and then no more. As stated, this only happens in level flight and is sporatic in nature. Maybe using real time wx is the problem. Vincent

VincentI am currently crusing along and I lowered the number of cloud layers down to 5 and so far things seem much better. I will let you know how the total fly went lots of cloud cover today between Alaska and Russia so I should get a good test on this flight. Could you provide me a short lesson on this particular aspect of ASA, (time permitting) such as at what altitude does ASA begin reducing cloud layers and whether or not this reduction occurs at low levels or high levels or a combination or is it something entirely different? This may help me in deciding at what would be the best numerical value to assign if I can increase or nn decrease even more. Thank you as always for your assistance. Vincent

VincentOkay, reducing the cloud layers appears to make a big difference. Still get a flicker now and then but fewer and 1 split second as opposed to a 5 to 10 second flickering string. If all remains as is on my flight tomorrow, I think you have solved a major issue at least for me. Thank You vincent :(
