FS9

Featured Replies

Hi All, What exactly is FS9? I see this all the time but no clue to what it is. Is it another name for the sim?ThanksJim

This is, technically, the 9th version of FS. However...After FS 5.0 came out in approx. 1995, they put out FS 5.1 which had some fairly significant improvements.Version 6.0 was called "Flight Simulator for Windows 95", which came out (I think) in late '96 or early 97.Then FS98 came out in late 97 but MS, for whatever reason, decided that this was version "6.1". FS2000 was version 7.0 and FS2002 was version 8.0. Now, with the release of FS2004, we have version 9.0.So if you count the 5.1 and 6.1 as separate iterations of the sim, then you could say, I suppose, that FS2004 is really version 11.0This is my understanding of the "history" of the sim. Anyone, feel free to amend or add to this.Bob Klepner
