Display problems in FS9/COF ?

Recommended Posts

Guest GeorgeDorkofikis

Greetings to all,I see many posts about display problems with the new version of FS.I received my copy this weekend and faced the same problems but I managed to solve them.I have a PIV 2.4Ghz, Creative GF4 Ti4200 64Mb, SB Audigy, 512PC333 RAM.On first run and in windowed mode everything looked ok. But when I switched to full screen I could only see some elements of the menus when the mouse moved over them or simply black screens. Here's what I did and finally solved the problem.1. I checked DirectX and confirmed correct installation. Also, I performed each and every test where available (3D, Sound, Music, everything).2. I reinstalled the 44.03 Detonator drivers OVER the old drivers AFTER the installation of DirectX. I remembered from the old days there was an unwritten rule to reinstall the display drivers when a new version of DirectX was installed. This did the trick. Especially step 2. After the required restart, I fired up FS9 and got no more black screens. Everything was perfect.I can only assume that the re-installation of the drivers made them recognize the new DirectX version and probably installed the support for the new version.Regards,George DorkofikisAthens, Greece
