Navigation log missing enroute waypoints

Featured Replies

I am very new to Active Sky - made the decision to purchase today - the same day that ASE came out, so I don't know if this is a specific bug in Evolution or if I'm missing a setting somewhere.I have some fairly detailed high-altitude IFR flight plans based on actual airline routes - using jet airways, VORs and waypoints/intersections. I generally compose these plans in Simroutes, which allows me to download both a .pln version to FSX and an .rte version to the Level-D 767 FMC. That way, Radar Control uses the pln routing while I do my navigating off the identical FMC-based rte routing. Now that I've owned ASE for almost 6 hours :( , I was really looking forward to using it as a flight planning tool - especially for winds aloft data. The problem is that on every single .pln log I've imported, it only gives me two points: the departure airport and the destination airport. It shows none of the waypoints in between. This is further verified when I click on the route briefing map; I see the two points with a straight line connecting them. That is almost useless to me as a planning tool. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi and Welcome! In this situation what users need to know is that we are limited to the default databases from FS in regards to flight planning and plans. If a point isn't in the default FS database, AS will not recognize it, so that may be what is happening for you. Now, if you can load the plan in FS and re-save the plan, then AS can import the re-saved plan and the points should be there.

Hi, Jim. I think I'm zeroing in on the problem. Closer inspection of my pln files with notepad reveals that many were saved in a very different format - almost looks like an html file, with a header of SimBase.Document, and xml. Interestingly, FSX seems to have no problem reading these pln's. But when I use the pln files with waypoint listings (eg Waypoint.x=, where x is zero to whatever), ASE lists every waypoint :( . Scratching my head trying to figure out where the Simbase/xml .pln files came from... but in any case, I think the problem is solved.I appreciate the quick response - you are right up there with Pete Dowson (FSUIPC) in how responsive you are to your customers. I doubt that goes unnoticed by many AS users. And it adds so much to the value of your product. Thanks again.Lee
