March 29, 201016 yr I notice that the optional patch for the C185F changes the zoom: I am a lot closer to the gauges than without the patch. Anyone knows how I can get the original zoom back? Copying the camera definitions doesn't do the trick.

Copying the camera definitions doesn't do the trick.I can help you with that, but you'll have to hang on until I get home (about 3 to 4 hours from now). The zoom didn't change, just the eyepoint. I adjusted it to be more accurate for an actual seating position, but we can change that back if you want. Now, you DID save the original aircraft.cfg, right? Assuming you did, you can simply go in there (using Notepad) and copy the [EYEPOINT] data and replacing what you have in the new cfg file.If you do that, let me know here and I'll know you're set up ok. Otherwise I'll find the old settings and post them here.
March 29, 201016 yr And you'll have to hang on until I am able to try this out, which will be in about 21 hours... :( But I am sure this will do the trick. However, if this eyepoint is more accurate... I might see if I can get used to it. It's just that all the other planes have similar viewpoints and now the C185F is really different, so you have to get used to it after switching planes.

When I was sitting in a real 185 Friday, I noticed when I looked out the side window, the top of the window was about even with the tip of my nose. That allowed me to see over the panel ok, but you have to duck your head to see the underside of the wing for sure. Now, if you have the new seaplane, et al package, those eyepoints are back to the original settings, so you can simply copy those if you want. Just in case though, the entry is:[Views]eyepoint=-5.00,-0.85, 2.3That last number is what raises and lowers you. I think I have mine set to about 2.6 or so. Experiment and see what you like.
March 30, 201016 yr Jeroen, what zoom setting are you using in FSX?I fly almost always 0.5 because it gives you a wide field of view and at low altitude a correct sense of speed, but this also depends on the Monitor size and distance. The viewpoint in the optional patch is best used with zoom 0.5Glenn e.g. uses 1.0

Oddly enough the numbers were different in my backup of the cfg, but well... all is fine now. :( Jeroen, what zoom setting are you using in FSX?I fly almost always 0.5 because it gives you a wide field of view and at low altitude a correct sense of speed, but this also depends on the Monitor size and distance. The viewpoint in the optional patch is best used with zoom 0.5Glenn e.g. uses 1.0I always use 0.6 (with WideViewAspect=False btw). 1.0 looks very odd to me. :( 0.5 looks nice too (the further you zoom out, the better the textures look), but since the view is even wider, the computer has more to do, I guess...? Going even lower makes it all look weird, as if you are looking through a fisheye lense.
