FS2004 just quits to the desktop - Error trap included

Featured Replies

I'm running a fresh installation of Windows 2000 on an XP2700+ with 512Mb DDR RAM and an ATI 9700 Pro.Windows is patched to the latest, SP4 and all security fixes.FS2004 runs well, the graphics flicker a bit when I go in and out of menus but I can live with that. The problem is that I've not been able to keep the sim running for longer than about 15 minutes. The screen suddenly flickers to black, and after a few seconds the 'phone home' box appears and FS closes.Looking in the error log I see the following every time:The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Flight Simulator 9.0 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: fs9.exe, 9.0.0.30612, ai_playr.dll, 9.0.0.30612, 00015197.Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions? If it keeps on doing this on a clean build then I may as well give up now.Keith.

Hi Keith,I don't have a fix for your problem but have you checked out Troubleshooting error messages, sound, display, etc.? Troubleshooting is quite extensive and is located in the menu bar after you start the sim, click on Help, then Troubleshooting.Ciao,Jim Young
