Carenado 21o

Hi all, this is my first time in the forums and I'm asuming this is the right place for my question. I'm wanting to modify the Carenado 210 panel and eventually airfig., but first I need help with the getting the VC guages to brighten. In night mode, there is a soft red glow on panel, and turning landing light on, a brighter red light appears on panel. That doesn't bother me. However, the only way I can read the guages is if I press [shift] L and the whole cabin now appears white. I would prefer not to do this. I'm very new to this, so if there is a solution, please explain to me like I was in grade school. :( I'm am using FSX SP1. Thanks
