When I installed FS9, I remember a message that poped up at the very last saying something to the effect that there would be a problem with 2D objects until you downloaded a new version of something. Was it a new version of direct X?I can't remember what it said. It said that it would be available on August 1st I think.Turnip

Not everyone got the message but believe it advised upgrading your video card drivers. Jim

You may have seen a msg about upgrading to the latest Nvidia video drivers. They were due out on Aug. 1st, but haven't been put on the web site yet.If this is the msg you were seeing, you can see it again by starting FS2004 and clicking the News link on the startup screen. You can also see the same page it loads internally, by going here:http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimul...t/fsliveweb.aspThe Nvidia drivers are here, but as I'm writing this, the latest version available is still 44.03 from May 14th:http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.aspYou can also try out the "leaked" beta drivers here:http://www.guru3d.com(click on "NVidia Detonator Drivers" in the upper right, and then scroll down past the 7 "pinned" items at the top of the list.)Currently the latest beta drivers are 45.20, which I installed yesterday with no problems. I haven't tested them well enough yet to know if there were any major improvements.Russell

Thanks folks. Now I remember. That WAS what it said. I upgraded to the OMEGA drivers yesterday and now get at least 25 FPS with everything maxed out. They work great. Now if I can just get rid of all the shimmering buildings and such, I'll be ahppyHappy simming.Turnip
