A major leap forward; a few baby steps backwards?

I'm really enjoying FS2K4 - but it seems like we lost a few odds and ends in the upgrade? Maybe you folks can confirm?1.) Seems like all AI aircraft have the same strobe lights. I just shot a night approach into JFK, and all of the active AI aircraft on the ground had strobes blinking at the same instant. Wasn't this fixed in FS2K2?2.) ATIS messages. In a previous verion (not sure if it was FS2000 or FS2002) the ATIS messages would be garbled and weak if you were on the fringes of their reception area. Now, they suddenly just jump out at you.I'm not ####, mind you - just curious...!
