May 11, 201016 yr FORT LAUDERDALE-In an effort to reach out to a wider customer base on the east coast and serve new and exciting destinations, Coastal Horizons Airways has officially opened a new hub at Fort Lauderdale Airport(ICAO Code: KFLL). The airline will base 4 of its 17 aircraft at FLL and also begin serving a number of new destinations including the Turks and Caicos(MBPV), Nassau, Bahamas(MYNN) and a pilot favorite, St. Maarten(TNCM), which is known for its breathtaking beaches and landings that are just feet above the crowds at Maho Beach."As a leisure based VA, we felt the time was right to give our customers a whole new set of options in where they travel. We are pleased so far with our Las Vegas operation, but we felt that we were limiting ourselves by placing too much focus on our operations out west and decided to make a push at getting customers to see on the east coast what we're all about and to experience the Coastal Horizons difference" said Vice President Chris Boyd.In other news, Coastal Horizons is also finalizing a number of exciting new developments which will be released within the next couple of weeks. For those interested, a crew scheduling function will be implemented that pilots may use in order to bid on trips of their liking and that will be reflected in a calendar style presentation for the pilot indicating what days and flights the pilot is to fly similar to real world operations. A blank example can be seen here.A state of the art dispatch system will also take effect allowing pilots to communicate with a dispatcher real time through teamspeak and also to receive dispatch releases based on real world airline dispatch releases. Finally, a training program is available in the works in which a training center will be available for pilots to enroll in self study classes and also have the option of interactive training sessions with our director of training over Teamspeak.Vice President Boyd concluded that, "We are excited for the new developments currently being implemented at Coastal Horizons and we hope that not only will our customers take notice, but prospective pilots as well who are looking for a rewarding and engaging career unlike anything else they've experienced at another va."
