Switching teams (Nvidia to ATI)

Recommended Posts

Guest

Presently I have a GeForce3 Ti-500. I am going to switch team and go ATI with the 9800Pro 256. My question is this, since I am changing the maker of the card must I remove all the Nvidia-related device drivers from my system? Or can I just leave them there and just install the new drivers for the ATI card. I can't imagine that the Nvidia drivers would somehow interfere with the new card, but one never knows. I thought I'd check with you folks. Thanks you very kindly for any feedback.Gianluca

You'll have to uninstall your Nvidia drivers and then get something like det destroyer or one of those other similar programs. Make sure you have removed all evidence of the Nvidia Drivers. Then install the ATI drivers. Once you're up and running with ATI drivers, you can usually overwrite existing ATI drivers; but must uninstall the Control Panel each time you change drivers. Check out www.driverheaven.net for the tools you might need. Also, check out the Omega Drivers over there. I use em' and like em'. PS: Welcome to the Major League!!
