May 23, 201016 yr Hi fellow simmers! :( After six years of big fun with a very stable FS9 I finally switched to FSX and its multiple bugs some days ago. :( The first and most disturbing bug of a long list I'd like to submit to you is something concerning the sound: I have a horrible crackling / popping and often no sound at all. I'm not sure, but I think this problem only appeared after I installed Acceleration expansion pack.Hardware: Asus P6T, SB X-Fi Gamer (latest drivers applied)Software: Windows 7 Pro 64bit (latest patches applied), FSX GoldI was able to find some hints in various forums. Here are the FSX.cfg tweaks I've already tried out without success:[bUFFERPOOLS]Poolsize=512000000PrimaryDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}VoiceDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}Please, help me 'coz its driving me NUTS! :( B) B) Thank you!
I know it's a known problem with FSX (Google's my friend).Hardware: I've a SB X-Fi Gamer and Windows 7 Pro 64bit with all the latest drivers and patches applied.I was able to find some hints in various forums. :( B) B) Thank you!The new "tweak" for Bufferpools is: [bufferPools]UsePools=0See the pinned thread above by David Roch. FSX is not seeing your sound card. I have the exact same sound card with Windows 7, 64 bit and my FSX.cfg lines read:PrimaryDevice={DEF00000-9C6D-47ED-AAF1-4DDA8F2B5C03}VoiceDevice={DEF00002-9C6D-47ED-AAF1-4DDA8F2B5C03}I would rename your FSX.cfg to fsx.orig then restart FSX and let the sim rebuild your FSX.cfg and see if that fixes your problem.Best regards,Jim
May 23, 201016 yr Hi Jim and thanks for your post! :( FSX is not seeing your sound card.Oh it does. On the settings screen in FSX I have 2x SoundBlaster X-Fi selected and then both my "Device=" lines read the same as yours.PrimaryDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}VoiceDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}These lines were just something I found somewhere on the net. That should mean "use the default sound device". According to my Settings > Sound (in W7, not FSX) this should point to my SB X-Fi Gamer.Greets
May 24, 201016 yr You may wish to check out NickN's tweak guide at simforums.com (http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041). Specifically, see the section about "SOUND CRACKING AND DISTORTION" which talks about the research done by Sargeski on sound crackle issues and latency, in which he discovered raising bufferpools on a 1GB single core Nvidia card will eliminate such sound problems. It may not specifically be your particular issue which gets described, but the information therein is good and may be of help, or perhaps provide some direction for you to further investigate.
