VOXATC UK & MyTraffic 2010

Featured Replies

Yep - someone else who's having trouble seeing IA aircraft using VOXATC and MyTraffic 2010....I'm using FSX with SP2, on Vista with SP2, and UK VFR Airfields installed.I purchased VOXATC UK v5.63 with voices and all worked fine at about 35% traffic setting on VOXATC and FSX traffic set to zero, plenty of VOXATC traffic showing and interacting at UK airfields. I thought I'd try MyTraffic 2010 because of good reports I've read, including those related to the way it works with VOXATC. However I now get no traffic at all.[*]MyTraffic 2010 works fine when FSX traffic sliders are moved, but this traffic is not controlled by VOXATC because VOXATC hasn't originated it.[*]I've run VOXATC Indexer more than once and it shows as reading the MyTraffic aircraft files, but no aircraft appear.[*]I know that MyTraffic recommends disabling scenery traffic files so I disabled the UK VFR Airfields AI traffic in case, but this also made no difference.[*]I've tried US airports in case my UK add-ons were causing a problem, but still no traffic.[*]I've also tried different traffic settings in VOXATC, from 10% to 100%, but still no traffic.OK, so I'm missing something really simple here - but I can't for the life of me figure out what it is. Can someone help, please??!!Many thanks,Paul

Paul,1. Have you started a flight with a valid flight plan and then enabled VoxATC?2. Check that you have a MyTraffic entry in fsx.cfg.3. Check that MyTraffic is in your scenery library (I recommend below Addon Scenery).4. Make sure you do not have other traffic files e.g. in scenery\world\scenery.

Many thanks for your quick response. To start at the end - with your help I've managed to figure out what's going on.First, my misunderstandings.1. When I first tried VOXATC it didn't occur to me to deactivate my UK airfield traffic files as it appeared to work fine.2. As I recently began real-world flying lessons I wanted to use VOXATC to assist me in the VFR flights around my local airfield at EGHH. Such local flights don't require a flight plan but do need radio use, joining instructions and avoidance of RyanAir!3. The combination of the above resulted in VOXATC happily utilising my UK airfield traffic whilst I flew local flights. The problem appeared when I installed MyTraffic. Suddenly the AI traffic I'd previously seen disappeared. It was your comment regarding a flight plan which got me thinking. Sure enough, whilst VOXATC will work on local VFR flights, it appears that it will only provide AI traffic if a flight plan is preloaded. (I did try loading a flight plan EGHH-EGHH but VOXATC quickly converted it to a local flight and no traffic appeared). Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. It's a shame that I can't seem to get traffic on local flights (unless someone else knows how!) but VOXATC is still one heck of a step forward in interactive ATC :( Paul

For anyone who's had problems similar to mine - a final update.I amended one of my scenery settings last night as, whilst it was recommended with my scenery, it didn't agree with my video card.Lo and behold, traffic suddenly appeared on a local flight!!Paul
