Transient C-17s visiting from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, can be seen in the background. The tri-swoosh is back! Tapping into the heritage of not one but two former real-world airlines, Southern Virtual Airways is preparing for the launch of both its virtual airline and its new homes at Jackson-Evers International Airport in Jackson, Mississippi, USA and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana, USA.The SXV staff are taking a forward-looking approach to the airline to fly new and planned aircraft. The airline will fly four types of aircraft, three of which are built by Bombardier: the Challenger 604 19-seater, the venerable CRJ-200, and the upcoming CS100 110-seat aircraft. And in response to the "dreams" of quite a few virtual pilots, SXV will also be leasing six Boeing 787-3 Dreamliner aircraft as a result of the cancellation of Japan Air Lines's order for 25 -3s (which were converted to -8 orders).Southern Virtual hopes to represent the heritage of both Southern Airways (which was absorbed via mergers into Delta Air Lines) and L'Express Airlines (which dissolved in the early 1990s) by providing jet service to several cities in the South and Southeast, as well as to vacation and business destinations throughout North America. Our first order of business is preparing our new home at Jackson-Evers International Airport. We have completely redone the default FS2004 scenery, adding jetways, the West Cargo Ramp, the Mississippi Air National Guard ramp, general aviation hangars and aircraft parking, and for our pilots, eight dedicated gates for Southern Virtual operations (though a version will be released without this addition for those wanting a realistic depiction of the airfield). For those interested in this scenery, drop me a line.Southern Virtual is also proud to announce the hiring of real-world US Airways Airbus captain Brandon Francisco as New Orleans hub captain and chief scheduler. With over 2,200 hours at the helm of US Airways aircraft, Brandon will be a valuable addition to our staff as we tool the airline to find the balance between realism, education, and fun!Interested pilots should visit SXV at http://www.southernvirtual.us. We utilize both VATSIM and VAFS in our operations, and pilots utilizing FS2002, FS2004, or FSX are more than welcome to apply as we get our virtual concourse cleaned up. From the "Mudbugs" of Southern Virtual, we hope to see you in the air, and for some of you, in our cockpits!Respect,Tim Trayloraka "Mudbug One"CEO, Southern Virtual Airwayshttp://www.southernvirtual.us
