June 30, 201015 yr After getting FSX I want to squeeze a bit more performance out of my E7500 to smooth out performance. It is currently running at stock speed which is 2.93ghz. The catch here is that my computer is a Dell so overclocking is disabled in my bios and the only option I have found is SetFSB which I know is less stable than overclocking in bios. Also keep in mind my computer is using stock cooling but so far from all the monitoring I have my CPU tops out at 41C and my GPU at 60C on very low fan settings.-How can I find my PLL ID? I have looked inside and out using all sorts of programs but I cannot find it.-What would be the highest safe overclock I could do before temperature becomes a factor?-Will I need to increase voltage and how?And in a slightly unrelated question, if I were to replace my processor could I use a quad core? I know single core mobo's can't mix with dual core processors but I haven't heard whether dual core and use quad core. Thanks Alex

Thanks AlexI bought a Dell that can be overclocked via the bios and have successfully gotten it up to 3.7GHz. I tried higher settings but it became unstable. If you haven't seen the following link before, I would follow this experts advice: http://www.wikihow.com/Overclock-a-PC. He states that it is much more difficult overclocking a locked Dell and I think you know that. He provides info on how to increase voltage and setting the FSB. Like me overclocking through the bios, if the system doesn't post or is really unstable after it starts up, you need to lower the settings. Good luck finding the PLL ID. Even Google and Overclocking.net has issues identifying PLL!!!! I wouldn't worry about identifying your PLL and work at increasing your FSB gradually.Best regards,Jim

I think I found some useful information here and I may be able to overclock after all!CheersAlex
