August 7, 201015 yr Ok new computer is arriving shortly --- 980X, 6/1800 Ram, GTX 465 --- Since I have not even used FSX yet, Please clarify the proper procedures.First - Install and use Nick N's install guide, windows 7 minimization, and basic config. (my only concern with this is the computer is arriving overclocked from the "factory" - Nick specifically says overclocking is the last step)Second - Experiment with the First step's resultThird - Possibly further tweek with *******' guide.Fourth - Install Add On's -- ASE, REX, and aircraft. -Do I have the steps right? Is there anything that I am missing?
August 7, 201015 yr don't worry too much about the overclock. I think he means you should be methodic and try one thing at a time (install 1 thing, then reboot, then test, and install the next...etc) if your 980X is shipped already overclocked, just disregard that part, but test the overclock before you do anything with the computer! run some stability tests like IBT or prime95 while keeping an eye at your core temps. as for ******* tweaks, especially the BP=0 one, I would leave that until everything is installed. if it's not stable, try setting different rejectThresholds
August 8, 201015 yr Just my two cents but why did you purchase a GTX465, a relatively mid speced card with a 980x. That card is going to bottleneck you. If your buying a 980x you should get minimum the GTX470 but most get GTX480.

I figure that I can always upgrade the video and other components, but what mattered most is the CPU. When you say bottleneck - how much of a performance loss will I be experiencing versus a 480? FPS equivalent if you can.
August 8, 201015 yr For FSX, probably no FPS, but you would be able to run higher AA and other nvidia based graphics settings in FSX and a overall more realistic graphics.
