Shimmers, Flickers and No End in Sight...

Featured Replies

No it's not the lyrics to a cool new Dave Mathews Band song. It's what I have been experiencing and trying to cure in FS9! I have tried just about everything to get rid of these annoying autogen edge shimmers. Alot of great advise has been given in this forum but it seems that this problem lingers on for most of us. I have seen many other posts about other's expereincing this same graphics problem. To say that this issue takes all of the immersiveness and suppension of disbelief out of FS9 is an understatement. I have an above average rig with a shiny new ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and am not a happy camper at present with Flight Sim 9. It's funny, I loaded up FlyII as well as a few other more current simulators and they look absolutly georgous! No Flickers, shimmers or any other graphical anomilies. What is the problem Microsoft and how do we cure the shimmers!?

hi markvery frustrating i know, had the shimmers,i solved it by upping my resolution..to 1600x1200.but main adjustment was by lowering the mipmap level to 4(the default level)this has solved the problem for me.i did have it very bad.both autogen buildings and trees, had the shakes.but now its very slight.good luck anyway best wishes steveUK

By lowering the mipmaps to 4 also cut down considerably the shimmering. Im using the 9800 pro.BobG

I have my Mip Maps set to 4 and yes it does reduce slightly the ammount of shimmers but the level is still unacceptable and very noticable...
