Help! FS2004 Installation Nightmare!

Featured Replies

Help with FS2004 Intsallation problems would be much appreciated....I installed FS2004 on my PC (Sony Vaio Pentium P3-1200 256mb RAM with Intel 82830M Graphics Controller). During the installation procedure I was prompted to install DirectX 9.0a, which I did. But here's the problem... when FS2004 started the Intro screen appeared then disappeared again a few seconds later. As I thought my graphics controller may not be compatible with DirectX 9 (despite the PC being just two months old), I completely uninstalled FS2004 an then downloaded with latest drivers for my graphics controller from Intel. After re-installing FS2004 (was not promted to install DirectX 9 this time so maybe it is not removed as part of the un-installation procedure?) the same problem occurred. Running "dxdiag" now shows my Direct X version being 9.0a and under Drivers it shows "DDI Version: 8" (whetever that means?).Argghh! What's going on??

Recommend updating your DX9.0a to DX9.0b. The update can be found on the Microsoft web site. Direct X cannot be uninstalled. Check your Display settings and see if you have an option to turn off anti-aliasing (AA) and let the application handle AA. My "DDI Version" in DXdiag is "9 (or higher)". Do not know what it means.Jim Young
