September 18, 200322 yr Were you trying to download something from the library?FTP typically uses 2 ports for transfer - 21 for commands and 20 for data.Your firewall is trying to identify an incoming connection on port 20 - it ASSUMES it must be a trojan since you have not allowed 20 to be open. This is what PASSIVE mode is used for during FTP. Instead of the host site connecting on port 20, the host tells the client to connect on a port > 1024 for data transmission. This eliminates problems with client side firewalls.BTW, using the browser for download acutally switches to FTP mode. If you would check the Help forum for the Library, there are some posts there about setting up PASSIVE mode, and if you search I'm sure you will find posts about this very issue that you have raised, as I know it has happened before and explained before.http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Ah, the Luftwaffe - the Washington Generals of the History Channel." - Homer Simpson
September 18, 200322 yr Yep thats a good enough explaination, thanks for the reasurance.Yes, I was just d/l a file, and I guess that's when it started. I've never been prompted on this before.I've just installed many things from fresh, and I guess I currently have my port 20 closed.Cheers for the info.
