FS2004 Graphics 'Locked' on Alienware M9700

Featured Replies

Hello All,I loaded up FS2004 on an Alienware M9700 laptop. The package runs great at roughly 70 FPS, however, its locked in basic settings, all sliders are gray and locked. You can click on them, but they do not move.I have asked around in tons of locations, from an Alienware section at 2 notebook sites, to nVidia's own forums (no one answered), and even asked Hal9000 from Aces who also had never heard of such an issue. A gentleman over at SOH had seen something like this with one of the CFS versions which had locked graphics settings with graphics cards that werent recognized by the game.COMPUTER: AMD 64 Turion chip, 2 Graphics cards; nVidia Go 7900 GS cards running in SLI mode, 2 Gigs of DDR1 RAM memory (not upgradeable as DDR1 didnt ever have 2Gig sticks available, only 1Gig max). OS is WinXP 32bit.Tried: All various driver settings for the GC's/nVidia, from base release version from 4 years ago, to the latest Beta form nVidia, to the latest Alienware GC drivers for the same Laptop. I have tried turning SLI off and deleting the FS9 config file, restarting, still locked. I have of course done the FS9 config delete many times. I have also tried resetting (manually) the settings in the FS9 config with no joy.I would be very greatful for any input on this. I had purchased the laptop just for FS2004, lol... I loaded FSX on it just to see how it does, and amazingly it runs FSX with powerful sliders at 30 to 36 FPS, so its not your normal laptop. For some reason though, it will not allow graphics settings to be adjusted and improved. Its horrible. Max mips, blurrs, basic ground graphics, no special effects, etc, etc.. I also downloaded all the latest Windows updates which also did nothing. Many thanks for any advice.Kind regards,BillLHC

I saw all your other posts on other forums, so nothing works huh?All I can think of is do you by any chance have some sort of theme installed on XP like windows blinds? And did you try deleting your CFG's?

Hello Lucky,Yep. Deleted the Configs to see if that would help.
