25 FPS One Way, 14 The Other?!?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,I know that there was discussion of the following FS9 issue a while back not too much after the release of FS9, but I wanted to check in and see if anyone has found a "fix" or workaround yet.I'm running a P4 3.2ghz, 1gb RAM, Nvidia FX 5900 Ultra 256mb, 45.23 drivers. With all sliders just about maxed, I get about 25 FPS most of the time. The problem I'm seeing is when flying VFR (4000 feet) over a particular city, I get 21-25 FPS. No problem there. But, when I turn 180 degrees and fly back over that same scenery (MS default), I get about 14 FPS. It's quite frustrating to go flightseeing, and then turn back to land, and all of a sudden, the same scenery gives almost have the frames! It seems worse on a clear day than a slight foggy day.I think someone mentioned that perhaps the video buffers aren't clearing out the old memory, and thus not filling up too fast. Not sure, but I'm hoping somone has a workaround. Thanks in advance!- JD

Have you tried the autogen fix? If not, just do a quick search and you'll find it.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, but I have only tried to make the TERRAIN_USE_VECTOR_OBJECTS=0 change. It did help some, but not as much as I would like. I will now try to rename the default.xml file to see if that does it.Thanks- JD

Ok, just tried renaming the default.xml file, and that seems to have "fixed" this issue for now. I don't seem to miss any scenery that seems important, and the FPS fix is worth it.So, for now, I'm happy. If any further developments happen, I will post. Thanks for your help!- JD
