September 27, 200322 yr Just finished flying in the "Washington Squared " Event - flying from KIAD to KSEA with ATC (nearly) all the way- the only gap was about an hour in the center where none was available. For the flight I used FS9/WinXP/FSUIPC/SBox/SBRelay/Servinfo/AVC Beta for voice comms/AOL Broadband Internet connection.Aircraft was a C-5A Galaxy imported from FS2002I am very pleased to report that FS9 and all the other software performed beautifully with two small exceptions. The first was a Squawkbox issue- suffered a disconnection from server about 5 hr into the flight but immediately reconnected with no problem. The other was ,I believe ,a RogerWilco problem at the conttrollers end,KSEA approach was literally overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of aircraft and I was unable to make contact- eventually made it on another frequency.FS9 itself had absolutely no problems with FPS staying at about 25 most of the time(Total time up was about 6hr 45 mins in total). The only FPS drop was landing at KSEA when,as expected with a lot of other traffic in view, the FPS dropped to around 10- 12.I hope this will give heart to those who are still suffering from problems with FS9- my system(See below) is by no means "cutting edge" and if it can do it then most of the others should be able to.FS9 settings were Terrain Mesh- 100%,Texture size- High,Detail- Land only,Scenery complexity- Dense.Autogen- normal.Clouds Sight distance -60,drwa distance- 30,3D- 30%.Screen 1280x960,mipmapping 4.AA- off, frame rate 25.CheersDaveAMD Athlon 2000XP (@133/133)ECS K7S5A Mobo 3.1 :04/29/02 Rev BiosSiS 735 Chipset Rev 12 x 256mb DDR RAMGeforce4 Ti-4200-8x 128mb DDR AGPAGP 1.16 WHQL . 4523 Detonator XP Drivers2 x Maxtor 40GB HDD (7200rpm)LG 8x4x32 BurnerLG 52xDirect X 9.0 Windows ME/ Windows XP dual bootBIOS Settings- DRAM Timing Ultra.
