September 28, 200322 yr When I play FS 2002, during the game, the taskbar display a caution sign and said virtual memory low. Because the game suddenly slow down and even when I change views, it tooks several minutes. Why is that? Is there anyway I can eliminate this?P4 1.61Ghz 256MB DDR Ram, Nvidia TNT2 display card, 40GB HD
September 28, 200322 yr Two possibilities, RAM and HD space.256 megs is not really sufficient RAM if you have sliders pushed up much. I have my system set up for maximum display quality at 1200x1600x32 and my dynamic cache often runs near 800 if I am flying circuits around an airfield (see other posts on the autogen problem). I would suggest adding another 256 megs at least, since RAM is rather cheap these days. WinXP I presume...Also, make sure there is sufficient space on your HD for caching files.MDavis
September 28, 200322 yr So, what is the minimum HD space for caching the files. Cuz I have 8Gigs left. And, what is display quality? Is it better to adjust the highest?
September 29, 200322 yr If you're running Windows 2000, 256MB size memory will give you problems with MSFS. You need at least 512MB. 1GB seems to be the preferred size in Win2K these days.8GB hard drive free space is ok, but may be you need to check how much of this reserved for Virtual Memory. You can check this in the Control Panel > System > Advanced >Performance Options.I'm not sure what size to recommend for virtual memory these days. Since you have so little RAM memory, perhaps you should try something large, like 1024MB. You can fix the size by setting the minimum and maximum to the same, figure, 1024.Try it out and see if it works, but I think the solution lies in buying more hardware memory modules! (At least another 256MB stick).
