September 30, 200322 yr 1. Black Screen when starting second party software and switching windowed mode back to full screen, or even just moving the window. I get the black screen with the flashing hour glass. The only way I can get it fixed is to exit Flight Simulator and then start it again. I have read several posts on this and tried the tewaks and they dont work for me. New video driver, New FSUIPC, no use. I have read that FSUIPC may be to blame and I am starting to feel this is the case because it only happens when I try to start FSMETEO after starting Flight Simulator.2. FS Navigator, A fantastic program but some issues with FS9. I get an annoying stutter when it is displaying. It is kind of like a pulsing decreace in framerates. Faster slower faster slower etc. etc. I know FS Navigator is causing this because when I hit F9 to hide it the annoying pulsing goes away. Yes of course when the framerates get above 18 the pulsing is not noticable but I only get these framerates 30% of the time. When the framerates drop to below 15 or so I can really see the pulsing stutter problem. Again this may be linked to FSUIPC or it may not. Time will tell.3. Sim stutter/pause just before the ATC sound starts. I get a slight pause every time the ATC voice starts. It's almost like the sim has to quickly load the voice before it can be used. I love the ATC and I have never had this problem with FS2002. I have updated drivers for my sound card, and I even defraged my harddrive last night because I saw a post that this may be a cause. No different tonight :-(So in closing those are my petty 3 problems. If it were'nt for these slight issues then FS9 would be perfect. Unfortunatly that is the way it goes. I hope to hear from others who have the same problems and or people who may have possible solutions. Thank you all for reading..Happy flying.

More likely FSNav doing something weird.I've not used FSNav since it corrupted my FS2002 installation when installing the trial version almost 2 years ago, causing me to have to reinstall FS2002 just to get rid of FSNav.>3. How much RAM do you have, and what OS and background processes are you running?FS9 uses more RAM than did FS2002, so if your RAM is marginal it could well be that FS9 is swapping out the sounds to harddisk and therefore needs a bit longer to start them.>Thank you all for reading..Happy flying.>Thank you for retaining a clear head and not starting inate rants and flames about Microsoft or their product but seeking honest advise on what to be done to alleviate your problems.
September 30, 200322 yr Whether or not the problem is "caused" by FSUIPC, Pete Dowson has accepted the responsiblity for fixing it. If you go to his Web site, you'll find instruction to manually add a parameter to FSUIPC.ini to correct this very problem. It worked for me. R-
