October 2, 200322 yr Hi AllI hope I'm in the right place for this, I am haveing a problem with FS2002. I have just started recieving an error message from windows XP telling me FS has to close and restart. The message says atc.dll is the problem. I have tried replacing it with a backup copy only to find that in a small amount of time it does it again. I have not changed anything recently that I can think of and have plenty of ram and such on my computer. Everything has been fine until maybe a week ago or so. This seems to happen weather or not I am running add ons like fsmeteo or not. I can just start it up and sit at the gate and it does it. I sure hope one of you experts out there can shed some light on this problem for me.Thanks Guys SnaJet
October 2, 200322 yr Only thing I can think of is perhaps some add-on overwrote your traffic.bgl.... Certainly sounds like it has something to do with AI..... Can't offer much more than that at this point, but I hope it can start pointing you in the right direction...-John
October 2, 200322 yr hihave you tried deleting your fs2002.cfg.(make backup first)let fs2002 restart and it will compile a new fs2002.cfg.youll have to reset your startup.....give it a go after trying previous suggestion good luck steve
October 2, 200322 yr Hi AgainThanks so far, I have deleted the file and fs wouldn't start. I then replaced it with a backup and now it does run, but is beheaving the same. Best Regards SnaJet
October 2, 200322 yr Well that doesn't sound good. If you delete the FS2002.cfg then FS2002 should definitely be able to rebuild it from scratch and fire on up. It sounds like something has gone awry with your FS2002 installation. Or perhaps your OS has filesystem problems. To check your OS for filesystem problems you can pull up a command prompt and enter the command...chkdsk /Rand then reboot.Good Luck,Jim
October 2, 200322 yr Before running chkdsk /r, I'd still suggest he look at the traffic.bgl... I understood that the FS2002.cfg did rebuild from reading his reply, but the atc.dll problem was still there. Sounds to me like an add-on messed up one of the default files vs. a file system problem. Another possibility is an aircraft referenced in the traffic.bgl was deleted.-John
October 2, 200322 yr Ahh, yes John. You are probably right. I just didn't read it that way, sorry. And I didn't necessarily think it's a filesystem problem, just a possibilty as I was beginnning to think some files are missing for seemingly no good reason. But I think you are probably more on track to what is likely wrong here than me.Jim
October 4, 200322 yr Hi GuysAfter replacing the atc.dll from my backup with no luck, a buddy sent me his and I used that. So far It has been working great and I have logged two flights, without a hitch. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the problem is gone. I have been adding new stuff and that may have been the problem. Thanks again for the help. I will keep you posted. SnaJet
