October 3, 200322 yr When I install a 3rd party acft, like Carenado C210 or Flight 1 C310, I am getting higher FPS in 2k2 than 2k4? And the opposite is true of the VC.Anybody else experiencing this?Scott
October 3, 200322 yr Yes, many people have problems with FPS in 2D panel view, also with all default aircraft. It is strange that for some people two entries in the fs9.cfg file 'display' section (look up tip section) seem to help, but for others not (including me). Search the forums, there are many threads on this.Walter
October 3, 200322 yr Really, 2-d panel's slowed FS2002 down as well--it's just that FS2002, having less to display, commonly had max fps beyond the 15-25 most simmers locked their fps at. I found a simple solution for the 2-d panel issue in FS2004 which doesn't require any tweaks... Many 3rd party panels are multiple windows layered on the screen--one containing the main panel, another perhaps some switches, and sometimes a third with a mag compass... I found that "right" clicking those extra windows and closing them was good for a 10-15 pct improvement in fps, per window.Other panels are one window, but fill the entire screen.... Can't help with those I'm afraid....I became aware of a way around it after Chris Willis forwarded to me a bunch a shots from the default Cessna panel, showing little or no fps difference. I started to study what was different between it and most other 3rd party panels....multiple windows....In FS2002, if I unlock my fps and park myself at Glendale in AZ, fps with complex 3rd party 2-d panels is lower when they are displayed....something like 5-10 fps. But my unlocked fps is well above the 25fps I keep '2k2 locked at, so I never noticed the problem...-John
