October 5, 200322 yr Greetings, Jorge. You neglected to mention one very important component of your system and that is the name and version of your video driver. You must have a driver installed that will handle the card, for example, a nVidia version 45.23 from guru3d.com is what I'm now using.Once the driver is installed the card should work. All that remains is to set the characteristics that your and/or your monitor like for optimum performance and that, my friend, is an entirely different subject.Hope this gets you started - best wishes.
October 5, 200322 yr The standard method to replace your video card or drivers is as follows.Note - Make sure you are logged on as Administrator before beginning and throughout this procedure.1. With your original video card installed go to Control Panel and set you video card to standard VGA.2. Then in Control Panel/Add Remove Programs - delete the old drivers completely.3. Reboot the system with the OLD card still in place. Check Control Panel (or right click on desktop and select Properties/Settings) and confirm system is set up for standard VGA.4. Shut down and switch off computer.5. Replace video card with your new one.6. Reboot.7. Read and follow the instructions on how to install the drivers for the new card. (If you have already tried to install the new drivers delete them too per 2 above)bf
October 5, 200322 yr Try reseating the video card again (and monitor cable on the card). I know some people (including myself occasionally) that think the card is all the way in, but in fact its not. This may sound like a "stupid" thing, but I know when I get a new card, i'm not thinking straight when putting the card in LOL (even being a comp techie I sometimes slip up LOL).Also, some cards have a power connector on the side for more power. This may or may not be the case for your FX5600 though. Make sure thats connected too if there is one.If theres any POST beeps (when you first turn on the computer), let us know, cause they can be a good troubleshooting guide.
October 5, 200322 yr hello, also try connecting the card DIRECTLY to the PSU unit, that is if you have a splitter on it..also make sure ALL of your connections are tight and that you have at least a 400 (or 350) watt power supply or there might not be enough power to run the card!!Life is a design flaw...
October 5, 200322 yr HI Jorge, I also had a PNY FX5200 and I also had that horrible heart stopping cause you just bought a new graphics card that doesn't work experience. PNY failed to mention when they printed the instruction booklet that you must plug in another one of those molex connectors that comes off your power supply into the card in order for it to work. The box should have included and extra Y adapter in case you don't have a spare connector. Oh yeah, they also said on the box that the min. requirement for the PSU is 250W. Well thats a bunch of horse crap! Even the customer support agent at PNY said that is wrong. Sure, you can use 250W PSU, just dont plan on running ANY other perephials. Good Luck, Jorge, I hope this solves your problem and you can be in the skys with a big smile on your face admiring your new Frame Rates!James
