Old FSMeteo (FS2002) and new FSUIPC ???

Featured Replies

Hi all,a strange problem is occuring the last days on my system.I'm flying FS2002 and there where no problems until I upgraded to the latest FSUIPC 3.10 (payed full version). I'm using an old FSMeteo (5.2) cause I didn't see the need to upgrade to a newer version ($$$) - just for FS2002.Everything works fine until I try to download real weather with FSMeteo. After that my sim kind of hangs up (no view-switching, no outside view). If I close FSMeteo everything is ok again, exept all lights (aircraft and scenery) are surrounded by a small black square. The normal FS-Real-Weather-Download is working perfect. The old (freeware) version of ActiveSky (1.5) is producing the same problem.I'm on WIN XP (Pro), latest patches & drivers, DirectX 9.0b.System: AMD Athlon 1800+, 512MB DDR RAM, Asus Geforce 3 GraficsPete Dowson told me, that this has nothing to do with FSUIPC.Sounds that familiar to anybody???Are there any solutions????Best regards,Roger

Hi all,it's me again with some news concerning my problem. I would like to share it with you:IN FACT it's not a FSMeteo or FSUIPC Problem. The "hang up" ALWAYS appears, when I minimize the FS-window (fullscreen) and open it again. It seems to me that this is a DirectX 9 problem or a problem with the grafics-driver (Nvidia Detonator 45.23).There is a workaround (not a solution):everytime you minimize you FS-window and open it again, go for a short time into windowed mode (with ALT+ENTER) and go back to fullscreen. Then everything works fine.Beside the workaround, I would still like to know what THE REAL PROBLEM IS. Does anybody have ideas? Maybe the problem was already mentioned in this forum??Regards, Roger

FSMeteo 5.2 is not compatible with FSUIPC 3.xx. You will either need to get FSMeteo 6, or roll back to FSUIPC 2.971.I don't believe Marc is planning to update the 5.x product. Some of the early versions of FSUIPC 3.x did work with FSMeteo 5.2, but it stopped working around v3.05. It did for me anyway. Of course, I run FSMeteo of WideFS - so I haven't seen the whole minimize problem you describe.Cheers,J

Hi Jase, thanks for your reply.I contacted Pete Dowson. He told me that older FSMeteo versions actually ARE compatible with FSUIPC 3.xx, cause Pete implemented also older protocolls. And since I discovered that my problem is a graphic problem (see above), I also brought FSMeteo 5.2 back to work again. The graphic/directx problem is still there and I really would like to know if there's any solution.I'm sure, that I'm not the only one!?!?!?Best regards,Roger
