What settings are preferd in the 3D tab OpenGL or 3DThanks

OpenGL will have no effect on MSFS since it is a DirectX application.FYI.http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Ah, the Luftwaffe - the Washington Generals of the History Channel." - Homer Simpson

I remember when 3DFX was around and OpenGL sure seemed to be alot smoother and great graphically than D3D. I wonder what FS would look like and how it'd run if it were OpenGL....I don't even know of any new games that support OpenGL.

Nowdays, OpenGL and D3D are about the same it seems. I have a few games that use OpenGL, but theres one that can use either. Counter-strike (or Half-life in general) can use either D3D or OpenGL, although my Radeon 7200 runs them equally well. I think the image that OpenGL makes looks a bit better though (different processing methods). Theres plenty of new (and old) games that use OpenGL. All the Half-life series uses OpenGL and D3d, X-plane uses OpenGL, Fly! used D3D and glide. OpenGL also can make the program cross platform.I really really doubt that Microsoft would have anything to do with OpenGL in their games, after all, they wrote DirectX LOL.

Il-2 Sturmovik supports OGL and runs exceptionally well with it on my machine. Can't comment on Forgotten Battles, though, because I don't have this one.
