October 10, 200322 yr Have researched extensively in the Forums...I have tried some of the suggestions posted including taking the cover off cpu, tested RAM (seems fine).Where can I find AGP Fastwrites? Apparently it should be turned off to stop crashes. Is it in the BIOS or a tweaking util for the TI4200? A Looong time ago I enabled it, I recall, on an older system. Just can't remember where to find it now. Also, does anyone know what MS does with the error reports? I don't suppose there's any way to use the info from them to diagnose the problem. COF just quits, the screen goes black for a minute or so, then it creates an error report. This happens with default a/c as well as add-ons.Any other suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks, AdamP4 2.4MSI 648 MAX moboMSI TI4200512 MB PC-2700 DDR333 2x256Just had WinMe reinstalled with all new drivers.I want to switch to WinXP soon, but I gather a number of people with XP are suffering the same crashes. I had the very occasional crash in FS2K2, but this happens in COF on virtually every flight.
October 10, 200322 yr I am using FS2004 on a dual boot PC with a separate copy of FS in WinME and WinXP.The PC is in some ways similar to yours(Same graphics card and RAM) but is an AMD XP2000 on a K7S5A mobo. Both copies run very successfully so my feelings are that the problem is more likely to be other than the OS.Have you checked your CPU and system temeratures both at idle and full load(after say 20 mins)? also check your voltages- low 3.3 and 5v values can produce this kind of problem in some cases. You can download Motherboard Monitor ,autility that will give you constant readout of temps and Voltages and also produce a text log enabling you to look afer a system or software crash and see what is going on.I'm not certain that MBM supports your board- it cover most - best way is to visit the website and look there before downloading .The website is--http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ If you do switch to XP you should find an improvement in FS performance. On my PC the XP copy is about 15% better with fps than the ME copy.Good luckDave
