The MIcrosoft Flight Scenery Builder

Featured Replies

While I get most of my kicks from FS2004 and FSX by simulating flight, I've greatly enjoyed creating my own scenery as well. As of today this is a time consuming and difficult task, and extremely hard to do well. I'm sure this has kept many from starting their own projects. But the potential is there, and with the right tools many parts of the world can be modeled in much greater detail. Here's an example of how easy scenery creation could be (much of the technology behind the Sims build mode can be traced back to SimCity 2000 from the early 1990s):

The Sims is in practice a mesh, landclass and object placement tool all in one, capable of stunning and complex results in very little time. If Microsoft really meant something by "as real as it gets" this is one direction where Microsoft Flight could take flightsimming one step forward. By developing and selling expansion packs with scenery creation software and object and texture libraries us VFR flyers could get the tools we need to make some very real sceneries to fly in.

You are really right mate but the issue is that MS would like to sell " payware " scenarios for sure, Flight is based on the pay per view concept. So, despiting your gorgeous idea, it won't be done for the above mentioned reasons.
