October 13, 200322 yr Please tell me how to change the Nav 1 needles. When flying an ILS, I change my nav 1 to the correct freq. and see the Glideslope indicator and localizer but, my localizer is never straight up and down and I can't figure out how to move or change it. It's tough to fly an approach when left and right look like they are up and down!! Also, what is the blue needle with the circle in the middle of it indicate. All help will be greatly appreciated!!!
October 14, 200322 yr Once ILS frequency is tuned you still have to adjust course to the inbound course of the ILS. As I remenber without looking, the blue needle is a RMI pointer that points at what you have nav2 tuned to.
October 14, 200322 yr Thanks Mike, I guess I should have mentioned that I am established on the localizer. Let's say I'm landing 36. I'm on the localizer and centered heading/bearing 360, the localizer will be centered on the needle, but the needle will be pointing to 090, 070 or whatever. Any other help out there???
October 14, 200322 yr At the top of the panel, is a button that is labeled CRSE--with a small window that has a number in it. Put the mouse over it and click, change that number, and watch the CRSE indicator on the HSI (green line) change. Oh, yeah, there is another one labeled HDG, so you can change your autopilot heading indicator. To use the CRSE indicator adjustment, the autopilot does NOT have to be on. You can still fly the ILS manually. Paul
October 14, 200322 yr I'm an idiot! Thanks Paul. My bad, I've been cruising with AP on set to GPS and upon descent switching to nav and flying the vectors issued by ATC until nearly hitting the ILS then switching again to APR. Never crossed my mind to change the CRS. Thanks for the info!!!!!!!
