Altering FS9 cfg. appears to change nout!

Featured Replies

Hi there,Like most of us, I've been tweaking away at FS9 for a few months now. I've found many a suggestion here on the forum and have made a number of changes to my FS9.cfg. Even the most basic of changes however, haven't made one bit of difference. When I changed my video card I booted up FS9 to make sure everything was working correctly and it was. The FS9.cfg was not altered before the boot up. I went in after and changed the details (just for the sake of it). My point is - changing details in the cfg. seem to do nothing for me. For example, I tried altering TERRAIN DEFAULT RADIUS.... nothing changed in the sim at all.Could it possibly be OS? Boone - Depends what you're expecting to see.Try changing something that'll be obvious - like one of the realism settings. Then start up the sim, and look at the realism menu to see if the changes have "stuck".Brian

Boone,Don't take this the wrong way but your saving the CFG. file after you make the alterations right?. If not than they will default back to the stock settings.Just in case, Make your changes, than click on file>Save and than close out. Fire up FS and see if it makes a difference.Bobby

Thanks Bobby - and no offence taken, I am indeed saving every time. Regards,Boone,"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown in to the sea." E. Cantona

Boone, there may be several versions of fs9.cfg floating around on your computer. That's what happened to me. I quickly found the one I was using made no difference. A couple of suggestions: Check that the date and time of the file correspond to the last time you exited FS (FS always saves the latest version of fs9.cfg when it exits). The change you mentioned might have a subtle effect or for other reasons may have no effect at all. Try making a very obvious change to the file, such as changing the resolution. Or make an obvious change in the settings while running FS and check that it's shown in the new version of fs9.cfg. Best regards, Chris

Dear Chris,Thank you indeed for this. I will check the date and time of the file and report back.Best Regards, Boone,"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown in to the sea." E. Cantona
