About PanelAsTexture=0 tip I saw here

Featured Replies

I searched for tweaks for my new Radeon 9800, and saw one tip which suggested to add PanelAsTexture=0. Doing so, caused my framerates to drop by 20fps!Just thought I would share.Regards,

I just thought this might be the reason for people who changed the display.(graphics card) to NVIDIA.DRIVERS got FPS increase. They added PanelAsTexture=0 to the previous entry, and when they changed the display, FS9 created a new one without PanelAsTexture.Um...

I have a GeForce Ti 4200. When I tried that trick I gained about 10% in 2D view with the stock 172, a small but noticable improvement. TonyDigital-Flight

I have a GeForce Ti4600 and I can safely say this trick has a horrible effect. With this line in, the sim will simply close to desktop no warnings whatsoever when I open up the Garmin GPS in the sim.Seems it has a problem with the GPS texture falling into the panel texture category or something.

Can't say I've seen much of a difference with Ti42.(why do they need plain zeros after the actual numbers?)

For me this entry also results in a further drop of fps in the 2D panel view (GForce3 64 MB Card, 45.23 drivers). This seems to be one of the biggest mysteries in the tweaking of FS2004: For some people the entry brings better fps, for others they get worse.I wonder if we will ever have an answer to this strange behaviour?Walter
