October 23, 200322 yr I searched the data base, but couldn't find this question addressed previously.I just started flying the Lancair. It seems harder on framerates than some even more complex aircraft I have, such as the Seneca V. Although the 2D panel is very smooth, while in VC my gauges do not update very smoothly....ie the altimeter updates in 100 foot increments rather than continuously, for example. Is this my lack of horsepower, or is this normal in the VC even for faster systems? Also, the ATC call uses "experimental"....is this normal, or is there a sound file with the proper aircraft name?Very nice aircraft. Thanks, Steve J.XP1800+/512/Ti4200/WinXPHomeSP1
October 23, 200322 yr >Also, the ATC call uses "experimental"....is this normal, or>is there a sound file with the proper aircraft name?>With the Legacy 2000 being a "homebuilt" experimental catagory aircraft, that's the term you would use when calling ATC, reporting at a non-towered field, etc. But you could always say "Experimental Lancair 328SL" if you don't waste time :). At least that way, ATC and others have an idea of the speed capability.L.Adamson ---- the N328SL (328 Sierra Lima )is mine.....it rolls of the "tongue" easily :)Note: in the case of RV's, which I'm just finishing (RV6A), or Lancairs which are popular, you can even get a way with using the actual names, as they are recognized. But usual proceedure is to use the term "experimental" since it legally has some restrictions; even though these restrictions are usually a non-event compared to certified airplanes.Experimental rules: http://www.aerocompinc.com/faq/b.htm
October 25, 200322 yr I've got same guage issue as as you.Mine is a P4 2.53 w/1gig ram. I've got the sliders set to where I get a pretty consistant 15-20 fps with default aircraft. I notice a dip with the Lancair, but I've paid for aircraft that hit frames more. The guages do the same thing on mine, they are a little distracting, especially the vertical speed indicator. But the plane is becoming one of my favorites. Looks fast, goes fast, and handles great.
