Any freeware api to see weather : winds, cloud layers, etc ?

It seems that to see winds aloft and cloud layer information one has to select Custom Weather, load the local station, look at it, and then switch back to 15 minute weather.Is the utility to view the conditions in flight?Thanks,Myles
