November 30, 201015 yr I really want to run in DX10 mode since there are some performance benefits. What i am looking for is some global solution for the various flickering problems. (runways, lights)Up until now we identified several flickering causes:1) The (old and known) runway/asphalt flickering where the fix is to add a concrete taxiway to an airport using ADE.2) DAWN texture flickering in DX10 which is caused by some weird method FSX uses while flying at dawn. Solution here:To disable "dawn-smoothing" in FSX.cfg. Check.(Is there a relation between 1 and 2 ?? Didnt test yet but its possible. Yesterday i had an asphalt texture flickering like crazy at dawn..so i disabled the smoothing and now its fine)3) Now i am still seeing street lights flickering in DX10 mode.My idea is to find the shader responsible for this and "force" it to use whatever method they use in DX9 mode, even when DX10 is active. The idea is to be able to have DX10 on but without those problems and disable the "buggy" shaders. If it is a shader problem it should be (relatively) simple?G.
November 30, 201015 yr Its not actually DX10, its DX10 preview. I dont think people where supposed to use this, but it was just included after microsoft posted screenshots pre release that looked nothing like how things actually appeared in the game itself. Its horribly implemented and its buggy on alot of systems as well, inducing CTDs etc. Alot of planes does not display properly in DX10 preview. I recommend staying away from DX10 preview, its nothing but problems in my experience.Even the devlopers recommend not using DX10 preview as the main mode: Because of these two issues' date=' we are labeling the DX10 support a “preview” in the UI. We expect it will add value; but we are not expecting the DX10 path to replace the DX9 path as the primary experience in FSX and expect third parties to author to the DX9 path in the large.[/quote']
