Landclass and throttle questions

Featured Replies

1) Is landclass for FS2002 compatible with FS2004?2) I have MS Sidewinder FF2 with throttle lever, is it possible to make it control reverse thrust as well?

#1 Yes, Place it in the FS9sceneryBasescenery folder.#2 I don't think so .... unless you do it thru FSUIPC.Joe W.

Landclass for FS20041. You don't have to place it in [base...]. You can put it as a scenery in the [Addon Scenery...] folder, but without a texture folder (only scenery folder)2. Be aware of one major problem; the exclude default roads will show up if the developer of the scenery for FS2002 did not delete them by a special command. Reason is; FS2004 does not recognize the same layer number. You can't do it by yourself without the originial working files.have funSeev

seevHow many Landclass scenerys have you done?It works best where I said and you wont have any problems. If the landclass comes with a scenery.... then leave it in the scenery folder. This only works with FS9, not FS2002.Joe W.

JoeLets not urgue on things that are not 100% defined. Fact is that landclass BGL files will work fine from both locations. Question is when and why to place them in [...base..] and when in a normal scenery folder - of course without a texture folder. Please look carefully at my previous answer. I did not say you are wrong. I said both options are possible.1.If you wish, as a developer, to give the guy who download your scenery a chance to clear his/her computer from your creation or disable it temporarely (which unfortunately can happen), then it is much easier to do so from having installed it on the first place as a scenery. After a month nobody remembers what he put in a general folder, mixed with other things - most of them default files. (just think about all those corrupted addon guages you can't get rid of because you can't tell which is which. I saw here, on this forum, how people reformate their PC's or reinstall their FS because of that).2. If your landclass is part of a wider scenery - which also sometimes happen, then also you agree it can be placed in an addon scenery.3. I found out, with a number of testers involved, on different machines, that there is absolutely no frame rate or other performance difference between the two ways. And for your question (...how many...) Please refer to the download library on this very site for;israel_-_1north.zip (40 BGL landclass files)israel_-_1north_orot_rabin_power_plant.zipand, yes, it is a combined scenery for both FS2002 and FS2004have funSeev

Seev.....Put it whereever you want...

Both of you have worked wonders with Landclass... Truth is, there's no "right" or "wrong" way to install it.I tend to prefer Seev's method, and that's what I coach my users to do... I don't like dropping bgls in the default folders--as problems can happen if someone wipes MSFS and tries to reinstall. OTH, Joe's method makes sense considering most of our users rarely even glance at the readme and other documentation we put out there. The reasoning that it's better to install and enjoy landclass, and risk losing it during a reinstall, vs. walking users through adding it to its own folder. Even with my documentation, I still get emails from time to time asking why "missing" or blank textures appear, almost always caused by someone creating a texture subfolder in the custom landclass folder. It may not be rocket science to us, but to some of our users, installing landclass scenery can be just that sometimes.Regards,John (Author--Landclass Assistant)

I had a problem with one of my scenerys ( was made for FS2002 but worked great in FS9)in that the landclass wouldn't show and the effects bgl didn't work ( that one would hang the sim).I renamed the effects bgl to a bak and the sim started... no landclass !... So I tryed to move the entery up ( down) in the scenery.cfg. I got my landclass back. So...... I'm gonna keep recomending to place the landclass files to the scenery/base/scenery folder. This doesn't happen if it's in that folder. If someone wants to put it somewhere else, they can.... I don't care. I can't MAKE them put it anywhere. But .....If I get emails about the landclass disappearing,.... the answer is gonna be "READ THE READ_ME.doc" Thanks for being there, John, and the great program. Using it today for S88.Joe W.

Dear Mr. Joe,I hesitated a lot before deciding to post this, but somebody has to do it !You've got a really bad attitude problem ! Your messages are rude and offensive and quite frankly, I don't understand who gives you the right to talk down to other designers the way you do !Just to quote two of your "pearls": "How many Landclass scenerys have you done?" {by the way the plural of scenery is "sceneries"...)And this sentence which is downright outrageous: " Put it whereever you want..." (you should have written "wherever")The forum is virtual - the people are real and some of them have feelings mind you !!!Everyone is entitled to voice his own opinions. You don't have to agree but you DO HAVE to remain courteous and polite.Have a nice day Sir.Twister
