How to make the rivets appear

I can paint the aircraft. But I can't keep the rivets without the paint looking dull and faded. Is there a way to do this and tips?

Just make the layer which you paint on be under the on with the rivets.

Or if it needs to be on top for some reason change the layer to 'multiply'That is in CS though mind.
