Cockpit Lighting

Featured Replies

I've been using FSX for about 3 yrs now and had a hangar full of add-ons. Just recently it started to get flaky. When selecting an aircraft from the front screen it used to hang, it also hanged when trying to select an airfield. Anyway I thought I'd re-load the software (FSX that is). I first tried the "repair" mode from the installation disk. That completely crashed the app. when it tried to re-build the scenery index and refused to work again. So I then went for the complete re-load and selected the "keep all your stuff"(?) option. That worked but I got funny results from the lighting on the gauges at nigh, they were way tto bright on the first three planes I re-loaded, Carenado F33, Citation X and Embraer Legacy . So I uninstalled again, deleted every directory, and re-loaded. I'm looking at it positively so I'll re-load all the add-ons I've got to know and love and dispense with all the crap I've acculmulated over the years. This time I tried a native FSX aircraft at night, and the gauges looked fine. I then re-loaded my first add-on (Carenado Bonanza) and the gauges at night are way too bright. The same as when I did the first re-load with 3 add-ons.I hope you can see the effect in the attachment. I've also noted that the mouse arrow is black when tracking around the cockpit and only turns white when over an active area.So does anyone know what configuration item I need to tweak to get things working properly again. HELPI also seem to remember there used to be an option to use DirectX 10 to switch on/off but for the live on me I can't find it anywhere in teh Settings screen now. I'm using Win 7, NVIDIA 8600 GT, Intel Quad Core 2.6 Mhz cpu.

Well it took a while to remember that I needed to load SP1 and SP2/Acceleration. Not having to load this stuff for years it had completely slipped my mind. I remembered there was an article in PCPilot about re-loading FSX and that was when the penny droppped. So now all I have to do is stuff my hangar with add-ons.Simples
