October 28, 200322 yr Hiya.Does anyone use a notebook (laptop for us oldies!) for simming?I'm thinking of becoming a "mature" student, and if I was going to spend the equivalent of US$2000.00 on a notebook, I'd want to sim with it as well.I've been told that a notebook with identical specs to a desktop, the simming experience will always be better on the desktop. Whilst I confess ignorance on this subject, I fail to understand how, with the same specs, there could be a difference.I've been told that little gem from various sources, both personal and from those in the industry, so I figure if you hear the same thing often enough it has to be true!Does anyone have any experience in this situation?CheersAllblack
October 28, 200322 yr I do. I have a Dell Latitude C840.The prob with laptops IMHO is the lack of expandibility. While I do have a Pentium 4 1.6 GHz with 512 MB RAM, my video card is a low end GeForce 4 w/ 64 MB RAM. MSFS runs perfectly fine with this - but I can't expand or upgrade.http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Oh, my bologna has a first name, it's H-O-M-E-R,My bologna has a second name, it's H-O-M-E-R..." - Homer Simpson
