Winds In Flight

Featured Replies

Jim: I am having a problem in flight where the winds shift back to the same as the origination airport a bunch of times during every flight at any altitude, I generally fly from FL330 to FL430. When this happens my speed oscilates up and down constantly and sometimes overspeeds. This will go on for about 3-7 minutes and then the winds will suddenly go back to normal. What is odd is I can be right next to a weather station when this happens. At times it seems as if it happens mostly when flying over mountains. It gets really anoying. I have not changed anything in my setup ever. I am running SP2 and the latest FSUIPC. I run ASE in DWC mode and use no other addons. I mostly fly the default LearJet 45. I did not have this problem prior to the SP2 update. Any suggestions?

Hi,Make sure FSUIPC is set to default settings and weather settings off.In ASE make sure virtual stations and enhanced route coverage are On.Then try and see what happens.Any other FS programs running at the time?

Jim: I have FSUIPC set to default settings and weather settings off. I did as you suggested in ASE by ticking virtual stations and enhanced route coverage to ON. The flight started out fine, however, I noticed at about FL210 the winds reverted to the origination airport winds. I opened FSUIPC at this point and then went back to the flight. The winds immediately changed to the right ones but my plane did some odd banking back and forth for some time until I increased my speed from mach .76 to mach .80 at which point the banking quit. The rest of the flight proceeded normal. The only thing I run if FSX and ASE. What next?

Hi,Totally uninstall FSUIPC and try a flight and see what happens.

Jim: You have to be kidding? Right? You spend more time going around a problem rather than trying to solve it. I am not the only one who has had this problem and from all the threads I've read on this forum and HiFi's forum all you do is ask questions and more questions and make unbelievable suggestions like this and still I have not come across any solution to this problem by you or HiFi. I can't uninstall FSUIPC because I have things using it such as my flight controls and button assignments. So you want me to do something that will require me to do about an hour or two worth of setup just to see if this solves the problem. You know this isn't a bad product but it has problems. This is not the kind of product support one would expect from a company that sells something that isn't cheap. I would really appreciate some acceptable customer support on this, please. Thank you.

Hi Art,Since you fly in DWC and the altitude you normally fly in, you could try the settings I have posted here.http://forum.avsim.n...ended-settings/It does work very well, and eliminates those troublesome wind shifts. The latest version of FSuipc seems to work best. And you won't lose your settings in FSuipc Let me know if it works for you and if you need anymore help.CheersJulian

Hi,You should have also read that it may be certain versions of FSUIPC that causes this problem. I never said to uninstall FSUIPC forever, but to try one flight and see what happens on you computer. Because none of us can reproduce this we need to rely on those experiencing this to help us. If you save your FSUIPC.ini file, all your settings are saved, so you will not lose your work. Every ASE DWC user is not experiencing this the problem may not be in ASE.

Julian: I want to thank you. I followed your thread and set everything up the way it said and I have to tell you I tried the very same flight I flew last night and I had absolutely no wind shifts whatsoever. It was a perfect flight and very smooth with a little turbulence in a couple of spots, just the way I like it. Amazing, I did not have to uninstall FSUIPC.

Jim: Aren't you kind of arrogant and smug. You keep asking questions and I keep giving you the answer and you ask the same questions again. You should have read my post and you would know that I have been running the latest FSUIPC. You are correct, not every user of ASE DWC is experiencing this problem. But if you would pay attention to your customers, you should know there are a lot that do. You can't reproduce the problem because HiFi doesn't want to admit to having a problem with their product. If you had read my previous post correct, you should know that I did not find uninstalling FSUIPC acceptable because I have all my flight controls assigned via FSUIPC and did not want to have to set up default FSX control assignments because it would take a long time and was not worth it for a one hour and 15 minute flight. You need to listen to your customers and not talk down to them. No thanks to you, the problem is solved because Julian took the time to read my thread and helped me with a solution that worked.

No worries. There is a trade off, less real time turbulence, but I think most users can live with that.CheersJulian
