January 18, 201115 yr I have FS9 and use a P5NE-SLI 7200 Core 2 Duo 2 GB ram and Nvidia GS8800. Works well with FS9.FSX is a lot more hungry. What shall I feed it?I am looking at a 1gb 220 Nvidia with a Core2Duo same MOBO. Should I increase? Advice please! I am looking for the most economical (value for money) system. Also I want to have parts that have already been proven to be reliable (I have an older P series ASUS board that shuts down or just ceases to operate).Should I have 8gb or 16gb Memory? I don't want to waste my dosh. Just want to be practical yet powerful. That is not have the highest cost item. I would rather pay $200 for a video card than have a measley increase of 20% performance for spending $1000! Not worth it, I am not willing to pay huge bucks. I am willing to get value for money. So if it means spending $100 more on a MOBO (and a vid card) then I will. What is the most value for money CPU to pop in that MOBO?With ThanksDaniel
January 18, 201115 yr Hi Daniel,For starters I would skip that graphics card completely. Try are low powered/low performance cards found in OEM budget systems. I'd recommend a GTX460 minimum. 8GB memory is plenty for FSX. The best upgrade you could get is a top end core2duo and OC it. That will give much better performance than any graphics upgrade. However if you do upgrade the CPU, the Graphics will have to be upgraded as well, otherwise it will bottleneck your system.

January 18, 201115 yr Hi Daniel,Yes. Very Low powered, very low performance, low price. A GTX460 is a more suitable card for FSX.

January 18, 201115 yr Hi Daniel,You need to be more specific of what type of i7 you want me to recommend. There are 3 sockets with i7 cpu's.

Intel Core i7 950 Processor -LGA 1366, 3.06GHz 8MB Cache CPUI am not familiar with these i7s. I have the LGA775s. Maybe you can advise? Sorry I don't mean to be lazy......Daniel
January 19, 201115 yr Hi Daniel,You would be more beneficial going with a 1155 socket i7-2600k. They can overclock to the region of 4.8-5GHz, and even at stock speeds beat the lower X58 CPUs.

January 19, 201115 yr Hi Daniel,Yes, a good aftermarket cooler is definitely required. I'd recommend either the Corsair H70 or the Noctua NH-D14, both are on par with each other. And that is the correct chip.
