I have a CH Products Pro Yoke and Pro Pedals that require serial port connection. I have a Gateway DX 4822. It has no serial ports. Will these controllers work correctly with a serial to usb adapter ( http://www.newegg.co...9-013-_-Product ) ? If not, will they work if I install a serial port card (http://www.newegg.co...4-025-_-Product)? I apologize in advance if this has been asked before - I couldn't find it if it has been.

Likely not as I understand serial to USB converters for gaming hardware with one or more control axis require stateful converters. I would suggest checking-in with the CH-Products folks to make sure. You'll get an answer within a day or two.Cheers,- jahman.

CH is absolutely no help - they "no longer support legacy products". The have removed everything referring to their serial port stuff - even where it says they have info it is blank.

I did get an email response! It said I was SOLDavid, I am sorry but CH no longer supports discontinued legacy 15 pin game port/serial port controllers. This is to include drivers, programming, or setup. You have reached the end of your controller's service life. It is now time to start looking at USB controllers of any manufacturer. As for adapting them to USB I am afraid the news is not good. Our game port controllers are true analog and as such cannot be reliably converted to digital signal (USB). Now you could put a purpose built high-speed game card in your new PC to connect your controllers to. BUT the only such cards that I have seen have all been ISA cards and new motherboards usually don't have ISA slots. If however you were lucky enough to have an open ISA slot bad news is no one has made those game cards in a very long time so they will be very difficult to find, not to mention the drivers would be woefully out of date or nonexistent. ). Now some people have reported that they got some adapters to work but we are unable to recreate any kind of consistent performance from these adapters. In the event that the adapter did work it would be using the drivers for the adapter and not any from CH. As such we do not support or recommend the use of adapters. Long story short... you are not using these controllers on your new PC and it is time to start looking into USB controllers. Kenneth Fragoso, Inside Sales CH Products, Simulation
